Yesterday was the open events for the Australian Mountain Running Championships. Today was the turn of the veterans to be an Australian champion. The event today over 9 km started at Lanyon Homestead and covered the same course as used several weeks ago for the ACT championships. The run finishes near the top of Mt Rob Roy, height of 1100 metres above sea level. All off road, with one real steep climb of 1 km, the rest of the course gradual up hill with a few flat parts.
As usual, the oldest of ACT veterans turned up, Rad well over 80 years old, some younger ones in their 70's and a couple of real good ones in their 40's.
I didn't run, again being carefull because of next Sunday's run in Qld, but I did get in 14.5 kms of easy jogging while collecting some of the signs. I also had the important job of starting the event with John at the top of the mtn for the finish, and to take photos for R4YL magazine.
Strewth, I hope you gave your legs the cold water recovery treatment after yesterday's long run, they deserved it.
