Spectating during the Half

Today:
Distance: 14.45 km
Time:79' 52"
Rate: 5' 31" per km
Weather: sunny, temp 13 degrees, humidity 60%, wind NW at 15 kmph
Week: 14.45 km, August: 299.05 km, Year: 2883.95 km

As I don't run road events, I had no intention of running in the vet's half marathon held this morning from Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park. The area around the start line is fenced off due to Floriade starting in a few weeks time.
Good conditions this morning for the runners and the spectators with sunshine, an amount of warmth in the air and a gentle breeze. A good enough to join the club president for a run to meet and encourage the runners as they approached the finish.
We ran against the flow past Black Mtn peninsular towards Scrivener Dam meeting the early starters then the fast runners. According to Mr President, there were just over 200 starters, a good number for this event at this time of the year.
Nice and easy, felt good all the way on a reasonably flat track, slowed down by trying to run on the grass edge and off the sealed surface.

  • The fence goes up from today, according to one of the event workers we met last Friday.

They also have a night event which attracts an wntry fee, the day event is free.

  • Flat track? Are you kidding? What do you call hospital hill and the extra two mountains they added this year?
