Yesterday was a hilly run over Mt Majura so I thought I would just find out where I am at in the recovery department. A back up run after yesterday was almost not going to happen with the rain, thunder and lightning last night. However, today although cloudy and windy is fine.
Without going down by the river too often, it is difficult to find a flat off road course to run from home. Anyway, I went over to Gowrie and onto Wanniassa Hills, under Yamba Dr to Farrer ridge and followed the now disused vet's handicap course to Isaacs. Crossed over Long Gully road to the open paddocks on the eastern side of Wanniassa Hills to come out where the reservoir is behind MacArthur. There is a now sealed track on the top of Wanniassa Hills upgraded for bush fire protection, but it has ruined the area from a running point of view. Finally headed down Isabella Dr past Fadden Pines back to Ashley Dr and home.
Very few people out today compared with yesterday, cool day and windy I suspect.
Run went well, the backing up was not a problem.I now know that in two weeks time I can have a run on Saturday morning and then do the Majura/Ainslie leg of the Triple Tri on Sunday. Probably keep the Saturday run down to 25 km and flat(ish).
Two weeks after Brindabella Classic, the recovery is complete so I can concentrate on the last part of the year.
My mother-in-law has moved in with us from Tassie, arrived about a month ago, hoping to get a knee replacement some time soon. However, other health problems not helped by smoking, are of concern so the operation may not proceed.
Either way, she may well be here for a least another 6 months, maybe longer, maybe until the candle finally goes out. Opportunity to run long and often, you bet.
