Went to Molonglo reach this morning for the group run starting just after 7: 30 am. Fairly average day in most respects, just could not get into any rhythm, a real struggle all the way. Always had in mind that I needed to do over 31 km to reach 100km for the week, but really could and should have turned back after 10 km and went home.
I left the group at the horse stile behind Campbell Park offices, over to the saddle and on to the reservoir up from Hackett houses. Down the road to the zig zag track leading to the top of Mt Majura, turned at the 4 ways corner half way up, down the Two Peaks course to the track leading back to Ainslie. Picked up the power lines track behind the mountain, on to Campbell High school, down Anzac Parade to LBG, over to Commonwealth Ave bridge, along the edge of the lake past the High Court to Kings Ave bridge, and back to the car park. Still needed another 3 km so headed to the wetlands car park and back.
Now I know why I don't run road marathons, half marathons or 10 km fun runs, those concrete bike paths are just too hard to run on. Really, a recipe for injury, not needed when there are so many other off road places to go without having also to dodge and weave around bicycles and people walking their pets.
Last vet's handicap tomorrow, so may just trot along at the back and try not to finish last, nothing to gain at all, no trophies this year, just enjoy the post run celebrations, a couple of drinks and a sausage sizzle.

I don't think you'll see Strewth running tomorrow. She did a hammy this morning. Looks like I'm just as much a jinx to training partners as you are ;)
Glad you made the 100. Just 200m to spare!

What has gone gone wrong with the female training partners. Strewth said before we ran today, why don't I get injured. It's easy, PPPPPPP (Proper Preparation prevents p... poor performance) & injury. Proper recovery also helps, plus stretching, eating right, enough rest, etc, etc.
Oval running in lane 3, I knew, I just knew I wasn't that fast, next time out in lane 6 until I get it right.

Perhaps females are soft ;)
Lane 6 is 437 metres, so 30 laps will give you 13.11k - 3k to and from home and you get 10 miles.

Hey, hey, hey - you jinxed me two fruits! this has never happened to me before and ok I concede on the lack of sleep part but I've been running a fair bit lately so not sure what happened although my hammy has been niggly for some time. I'm icing it and will rest it tomorrow and see a physio soon, like a good girl!! See you for champagne after the run tomorrow - the telly indicates to me that celebrations are in order!!

And as for you Ewen - I am NOT soft - I have hard abs!!
By strewth, At November 24, 2007 at 10:07 PM
Watch out Strewth! That's an invitation to give you the CR ab test ;)
Good luck at the physio - do the right thing so you're back running soon.
