Spiralling on the Oval
Distance: 16.65 km ( includes cool down of 3 km)
Time: 70' 40"
Rate: 4' 14" per km
Weather: sunny, temp 18 degrees, humidity 55%, light easterly breeze
Week: 63.65 km
Jan & Year: 352.1 km
I rode my bike down to the oval with the intention of doing the usual 30 laps in lane 5 changing direction every 10 laps. Got down there about 9:20 am and found a couple of vets doing their sprint training, well done to Cory and John.
The oval is still in good condition except for lane 1 which gets a bit more use than the other lanes. Grass could do with a trim, ran bare footed as usual, and did the first 10 laps in lane 5 as normal. Stopped for a drink and decided to run the next series of 10 laps as a spiral. Started in lane 1 and at the end of each lap just moved out one lane until I ran lane 8 twice and then moved back to lane 7 to make 10 laps.
Changed direction after 10 laps and it is different doing a spiral going the wrong way and changing lanes each lap, took a bit of getting use to. It did however give the brain something to occupy itself so there was no boredom at all. Great fun.
Good session, pity I was pushed for time as I start work at midday this week and finish at 9:30pm. Terrible hours to get anything done.

Imagine 20 or more doing a reverse spiral at the AIS track.
Could be a Novelty Christmas event. ??

The grass was good this afternoon. It's the best I've seen it in January - just as it starts to dry out we get more rain.
