Running In Shoes

Today:
Where:  Back Home
Distance:  16.15 km
Time:  92' 10"
Rate:  5' 42" per km
Weather: mostly sunny, temp 11 degrees, humidity 50%, wind cool westerly 15 kmph
Week:  101.45 km,  May:  139.55 km,  Year:  1788.9  km

I have been reading the current edition of R4YL magazine ( a little late for the April/May ) and found a 3-4 page story on running barefoot.  Firstly, I thought it was about running without any shoes at all. That's what I like on sand or grass. But the running barefoot article is actually is about wearing minimal shoes. A bit of a waste of pages to me.
The 2 page story on the week in the life of Martin Fryer was much more interesting & relevant.
Today, I ran from home thru Gordon to Point Hut, along the river track to Pine Is, and back home. Noting too special about the run apart from reacquainting myself with shoes and the cooler weather after a week of neither.
Weekly running total just made it over 100 kms, not much but a good starting point now. Feeling good at present, no aches or injuries after the holiday. Hopefully I can get some good solid training weeks in during May, June & early July before Caboolture at end of July.
No hurry to lodge an entry, there won't be a ballot or waiting list for places.

  • Have you been following Martin's progress in the 6 day event? He's currently in 2nd place and has run 582km. (The leader is 50km ahead!) The mind (and body!) just boggles at the prospect of such an ultra ultra.

  • Certainly have been following his progress. Mind boggling for sure, but I have had a fair bit to do with Martin recently & know what is happening, when & why. It is facinating to follow, I look at the lap score board every few hours.

  • What's the website for Martin's run?

You picked a good day to come back. Wish you'd brought some warmth with you!
