Ran home at lunch time, noticed the heat today which normally doesn't worry me too much. Felt tired, so took car back to work.
I had contemplated entering the Dusk to Dawn 12 hour run in Qld in Feb next year, but have been put off by the humidity in Qld in summer. I ran a 12 hour in Gosford in January a few years ago at night, I suffered until well after midnight when the temp finally dropped and the humidity came down. The entry details are out now for Dusk2Dawn, usual conditions about the race, pacers, behaviour, change of directions, etc. However they don't use electronic (chip) timing, costs too much, and so use volunteers to record lap times.
Normally locals have to provide their own scorers, with the organisers finding scorers for interstate and overseas competitors. This time they will do that, but charge $ 100 for the 12 hour run if you don't have your own lap scorer. The odd part is race entry is only $ 45.
It seems to me they really only want locals to compete.
This, with the confusion over SFT and the ownership of Canberra marathon, it seems too much of a good thing is going to hold back to resurgence of long distance running in Aust. I hope not.
I might see if Mick wants to do Maroondah Dam 50 km on the same weekend in Vic.
