Year 2009 seemed to amble along running wise, only 3 ultras, Six Foot Track, Glasshouse mtns 83 km and 24 hour at Caboolture) and a marathon ( Fitzroy Falls ). That's the down side of concentrating on long distance and only running off road. The tapering and recovery take so long. Plenty of really good events are missed but they are on hard surfaces. Ran many of the mountain running events as well, always good fun.
None of the ultras were Pb's but as always fun. The marathon at Fitzroy Falls was probably the best run of the year. Other highlights was being able to stand on top of Mt Tennent so many times especially going up the front Alpine Walking Track, a difficult technical trail, great views back over the valley. Just love the mountain, in fact going up there tomorrow.
Other highlights stand out, Martin Fryer's run at the Commonwealth 24 hour run covering 433 kms, 2nd only to Kouros in ultra running world wide. Pam's brilliant effort at C2K, just so good, and the efforts of Jo Blake, surely under estimated with a second to Martin in the 24 hour, another 224 kms at the nationals and a great win at C2K to finish the year.
I didn't get sick or injured, nothing except motivation and the weather stopped me from doing what I like to do. Plenty of mountain bike riding as well, didn't fall off last year, good cross training and fun.
