On Track at Calwell Oval
Distance: 10.9 km
Time: 55' 26"
Rate: 5' 05 " per km

Week: 36.2 km, Dec: 129.5 km, Year: 2921.9 km
While the clouds were still lingering about this morning, I mowed the grass, blew the leaves away, and tried to tidy the garden & yard a bit to at least make it respectable for Christmas.
In the afternoon, the sun came out, the temps warmed up and I decided to run to Calwell Oval to check out lane 5.
After Ewen's glowing praise during the week, I couldn't resist a few laps. The grass surface is so good at the moment, it would have to be the best grass track in Canberra.
Lane 5, 15 laps bare feet, change direction after each 5 laps after a quick drink. Nothing too fast about the pace, more cruise tempo if that exists in the running books.
So nice to be able to run at average 4' 47" for the 6.65 kms in 31' 48" without feeling the pinch.
I need to maintain a plan of getting to the oval on a regular basis just for pace purposes as well as get used to track running again. Pity Coburg's event in April is not on grass.

Calwell would make a good venue for a 12/24 hour race - as long as they used lanes 2,3 and 4.
