Sunday was the easy recovery run, just to roll along and find out if there were any problems from the long run on Saturday. Nothing wrong, just tired, nothing unusual about that.
Today, being a public holiday, Calwell oval was vacant. I headed down there to run a few laps at a slow tempo pace. No fast stuff needed at the moment.
Lane 5 is Ok with the grass short & the under surface just soft enough to be nice to run on. Too cold to go bare feet, had to leave the running shoes on which would a first for a long time on grass.
Ran 35 laps in lane 5, stopped for a drink after each 10 laps & to change direction. The cold wind meant 3 layers to start, then the jacket came off after a while. Not the nicest day to be out, but that's another few kms done & banked in winter.

Lane 1 just hasn't been the same since softshoe ripped it up with that ultra practise ;) Was going to run down there Sunday but they were playing soccer. Usually a bit damp under foot in the late afternoons. Don't finish work early enough. Would love to be down there at 3pm or so.

Ewen, Lane 1 is now in perfect condition. I just had to smooth out some of the rough patches. For a nominal fee I could perform some maintainance on Lane 6 which I noted on the weekend is showing signs of serious neglect.

Thanks softshoe. I wouldn't mind if you flattened out the inside of lane 6 so I can run some good times for my tempo runs. A couple of beers if you do 6 hours in lane 6 ;)

Just stay away from lane 5, it's good enough for me. Unless underground heating system is available for bare feet in winter.
