Sunday is monthly handicap around the base of Mt Ainslie, ( we could go over the top, that would be fun for all the master's, they are faster and stronger than veterans). It's a course I have run every year since I started with the club, and like most, I really like it. It has plenty of everything in it's 9.3 km length, all off road of course, gently undulating to start, then fast and flat around the back and a nice steady climb between kms 7 and 8, with a very fast down hill finish.
Today, I parked the car at Molonglo Reach, and after negotiating the road works, headed around the outside of the golf course to find the track at the back of Mt Ainslie. Over to the saddle and down to the start area where the orienteering club was having it's afternoon out running through the bush.
Resetting the GPS, and trying to remember where the km markers are to go, I carefully trotted around the course putting small piles of rocks at each km, these to be replaced with proper signs tomorrow.
Back at the finish line, I had used up far too much time, so headed back to the car. It was one of those days when I wished I could have run all day, felt really good, beautiful winter's day, great location with just a few people about either running, bike riding or walking with the dog.
A couple of easy days, yesterday short run, and the bike ride on Thursday seem to have renewed the energy supplies. Maybe the nice days are helping as well.

  • Yes, it was almost another day to take of the singlet. Spring is on the way (we hope).

A great track (and views) out at Goorooyaroo - except I did something to my heel. Will try an easy jog this morning with Aki, reverse around Ainslie, while you masters are busting a gut ;)
