I have written before that the down side of ultra running is the lost days before ( tapering) and after (recovery) the event. It has taken 3 weeks to begin to really enjoy the running again and feeling fresh enough not to struggle even over a short distance.
Rain again overnight and a cloudy start to the day meant an afternoon run from home to Pine Is, along the edge of the river and back again. Plenty of people out enjoying the day, BBQs fired up and a few kicking the footy about.
All round sportsman today, the cycling race from Paris to Brussels was on first on TV, then the athletics from Stuttgart, then I went for a run, now the motor bikes have just finished in time for the final in the rugby league.
Doesn't matter who wins, but Casey won on the bike, the athletics was good on a green coloured track, and the footy final is being played at a stupid time of the day on a Sunday. That about sums up rugby league at the moment. No wonder the rest of Aust don't care about the game except in NSW and Qld.
