Not Until Midday

Today:
Distance: 16.2 km
Time: 96' 47"
Rate: 5' 58" per km
Weather: sunny after fog lifted, temp 9 degrees, humidity 90%, wind calm
Week: 45.1 km, June: 306.95 km, Year: 2163.0 km

The fog and low cloud didn't lift again until near midday today, similar to the past few days. I had planned to run to the top of Mt Taylor, but as I drove past it about 10:30, the entire mountain was not visible. That was the end of that.
Extended little lunch out to an hour until I could see across the street, then decided to head south instead of east. There is a nasty, short, steep hill behind the houses of Gordon at the Point Hut end. It kind of made up for not doing Mt Taylor. The flat fire trail above Gordon is a nice relief from the hill, with very scenic views across the valley towards Mt Tennent.
A bit of walking practice as well to work out a suitable pace to maintain some progress at the 24 hour in July. Both contributed to the slow km rate today, but still faster than the plan being put together. More on that later.

  • I remember that hill, although I haven't run down there for years.

The 4:1 run/walk (was it 4:1?) worked well for Martin over 48 hours. His walking was fast though - close to 7 minute ks.
