Today's blog title could have been about a rock and roll band. But instead it's about the sea life at the wharf. Sammy the seal was there mid morning waiting for the fishermen to return to clean their fish, and feed Sammy with the scraps.
The run was in the opposite direction from the centre of town, out on the beach front past the expensive part of town. Plenty of people here with big houses, money made from fishing and excellent farming businesses.
Much flatter than going westwards the previous day, but the run still takes in the ocean and port area. Shorter as well, with the wedding in the afternoon. It seemed to be a typical day for the area, all seasons in one day. The wind blew as usual but the ocean was calm. A couple of large ships waiting at sea to collect woodchips and the products from the aluminium smelter.
The wedding went off without a hitch, the rain held off in the afternoon, but came down again early evening and stopped just as quickly.
The reception was held at the Portland Yacht Club where the boats are launched and return. Sammy the seal was there all evening accompanied by two very large stingrays also waiting to be fed. I am glad it didn't see them when I was having a recovery stand in the sea after the run.
An good time was had by all at the wedding reception, finishing just after midnight.
Today, Sunday, is a BBQ and quite afternoon to recuperate. Tomorrow, Monday is a longer run before heading home on Tuesday.
