Long run tomorrow so today an easy run home for lunch and back to work. Not much to report, the river area quite, just a few kids splashing about.
One spikey bit of nature was an echidna on the river track just after the end of the south car park at Pine Is. Good size, didn't take much notice of me as he/she kept sniffing out the ants.
The only other echidna I have seen in this area was much further along the same track, closer to the Point Hut end, so these animals/mammals are spread apart on the sandy surface near the water. I only hope they are not the only two each looking for a partner. They would be over a km apart.
Stopped for a couple of minutes in fascination, great to watch.

I've seen one up the back of the electricity sub-station. They must get on well with the local wombats.

I am so jealous. I adore echidnas. They are fascinating and cute. I've only ever seen two while running and those two instances were 10+ yrs apart. Lucky you.
