Easy run at lunch time, 20 minutes in river to ease out any aches and pains.
Night time the annual one hour run. A couple of good runners in Vanessa & Trevor lead the way with both lapping me 3 times in the hour and the 3 rd place runner getting past me with only a few minutes to go. I think I finished about 5th overall.
Started behind a group of 4, holding on Ok until I slowed for a drink at 4 kms when they eased away by a hundred metres or so. Slowly worked my way back, passed a couple later and held on to the finish.
Ran consistently with that drink lap the slowest in 1'52", all the rest between 1' 42" and 1' 47". Could not find any speed even at the finish trying to cross the finish line to make 14 kms, failing by 90 metres. A couple of laps short of a PB, but happy to run well especially in the last 20 minutes. Managed to pass Ewen & Allrounder a couple of times, both going Ok but with not much to say.
Interesting to listen to Vanessa after the run, she does plenty of intervals & the like, but not much in tempo running. She was looking for a rest after every couple of laps. I was waiting for the change of direction after every 5 laps. I wanted to run on the grass in bare feet.
Rest day today, too hot, bit tired with a long hilly run tomorrow. Rode bike to work and back home at lunch time.
