I haven't been out to the kookaburra gate near Red Rocks gorge for a couple of years. The main reason has been it's a summer run, but the grass has always been too overgrown.
It hides the snakes, and is a long way from where other runners or walkers may go. In fact, I rarely see any one else out that way, so err on the safe side.
The track is just as undulating & rocky as always, therefore a slow km rate. But it's good for concentrating when tired & lifting your feet. As always, a descent sized bull keeps you occupied, both avoiding them & the evidence of where they have been.
Stopped at Pine Is on the return for 5 minutes standing in the river. Not as cold as it has been, really nice in fact.
