Week 47 - Two Week's Worth

Running:  Year to Date

Distance:  3,530.9 kms in 47 weeks at ave  75.1.kms ( up from 75.0 in week 45)

Last 2 weeks:  157.7 kms

Altitude:  116,651 metres in 47 weeks at ave  2,482 metres ( up from  2,435 metres in week 45)

Last 2 weeks:  7,063 metres

I had a week away on holidays so no update last weekend. A travel day, several short walk days, couple of short run days didn't help maintain averages.
But, a good solid run/walk up a local hill did just enough during the week away.
Back home on Monday, and another day trip on Tuesday meant a very slow start to this current week. I made up for this with a solid run on Wednesday, 22 kms with 1062 metres of vertical. But, I kicked a rock on an easy flat track, not concentrating, and fell. Skin off in a few places, but a sore right knee, although not damaged, changed my running style.
Not quite a rest day Thursday, walked 8 kms with 286 metres of vert. Then feeling better on Friday, took to the local hills with 15 kms and 995 metres ( should have done the extra).
My running mate later in the day suggested a run on Saturday, too good a chance to miss. Out we went this morning for another 20 kms with 1,058 metres of vertical.
Now back on track, weather permitting, to resume a more structured few weeks of running & climbing as the year comes to an end.

Week 45 - A Good One on the Up

Running:  Year to Date

Distance:  3,373.2 kms in 45 weeks at ave  74.96 kms ( up from 74.3 kms in week 44)

Last week:  102.6 kms

Altitude:  109,588 metres in 45 weeks at ave  2,435 metres ( up from 2,380 metres in week 44)

Last week:  4,871 metres

Three big days, Monday, Wednesday & Saturday with distances over 20 kms and vertical well over 1000 metres each helped produce best running week since end of August.
Four days had low kms, under 10 kms. So if this can be improved even slightly, then that will help.
Easiest way to do this is to go for a walk late afternoon while wife watches the soapies/cooking shows on TV.
Otherwise, running plans for races are unraveling faster than a mad woman's knitting.
No idea of what I will run as a race next. May be nothing now in the short term until Gone Nuts in early March next year.

Week 44 - Vertical Going Up

Running:  Year to Date

Distance:  3,270.6 kms in 44 weeks at ave  74.3 kms ( up from 74.2 kms at week 43)

Last week:  80.4 kms

Back into a routine following our 2 month holiday. I had last Sunday as an unpacking, getting organised day off. Also a couple of quiet days on Thursday & Friday with a couple of short walks late afternoon. Must have been busy in the mornings.
Result for this week is that 4 days made up the bulk of the stats. A good hit out on Tuesday on the Dooley Fire Trail up on to Goat Hill, 15 kms with 895 metres of vert.
Today a return to Mt Wellington trails with 23 kms & 1,320 metres of vert chasing the last of the winter snow & sussing out a potential course for the Australian Mountain Running Champs for early next year.
